Kayla Gonzalez

Kayla Gonzalez (b. 2000, Henderson, NV) grew up dancing both at The Dance Zone and at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts. She recently graduated from Wayne State University Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Dance Performance. While there she has trained under Meg Paul, Dr. Biba Bell, Jessica Rajko, Bryan and Shaina Baira, and Dr. RAS Mikey Courtney. She has also had the pleasure of working with choreographers and educators, both within and outside of the university, including works by Twyla Tharp, Maya Orchin, Meg Paul, Biba Bell, Adam McGaw, Bosmat Nossan, Monique Haley, Stephanie Troyak, Shawn T Bible, and G^2 (Beth Grazcyk and John Gutierrez) amongst others. She has been able to travel through the country and abroad to Lucca, Italy for various intensive and workshop experiences. Gonzalez has had the opportunity of presenting work at Wayne State in the departmental December Dance Concert, Senior Showcase in New York City, the Virtual Dance Collaboratory Showcase, Never Ending Narrative and Dance Workshop’s Showcase, This is [NOT] a Performance. She held leadership roles in those student companies, including Artist Director and Outreach Committee Chair. In addition, she is certified in STOTT pilates mat and reformer. Kayla is most distinguished for her joy, rigor, and discipline to seamlessly move through various dance genres, performance opportunities, and mentoring roles.
